Peckham Plan
Commended in the RIBA Silver Medal Awards, this thesis project was undertaken at London Metropolitan University under Florian Beigel and Philip Christou. In place of master-planning, an Emptiness Plan is proposed. Empty space and temporary usage have a real urban value - the city needs a rhythm that alternates lively places and poetic reflective emptiness. By supporting the innovative and the marginal, these spaces create growth that is truly sustainable; by re-using existing structures and by having the flexibility to adapt to changing conditions.
A suite of projects is shown, of varied scale and independent of each other that all exploit existing opportunities.
